Why do fans still find it necessary to visit the crossing outside Abbey Road Studios? And why are all of these fans either American or Japanese and under 20 years of age?

I think I must be in around 400 beatles fan picture albums as I'm always getting snapped by the idiots when crossing the road to go to my local bank. Angry

I know exactly how you feel, i have to use the tube every morning and pass through Bond Street station where tourists, for some reason, walk side ways like crabs do!!! There are too many of them and most of them are jammin the escalators or entrances or exits and they are soooo slow...

I have to curse and mumble my way to work everyday.. I know its important to have tourists, but it would be great if they can be banned from using the tube during Rush hours for Gods sake! Angry

Yep, I know what you mean, tourists can be a complete pain in the arse when you're in a hurry to get somewhere.

Especially when you get asked questions like "How do I get to Tottingham Court Circus Road Tube?"

I just returned from a week in your lovely city. I came back with a very good impression of how friendly and helpful everyone was in helping me out with directions. It is a huge city and the transportaion system is indeed overwhelming.

It saddens me however to read your comments on how annoying you find the tourists. I sympathize with you about trying to get to work, but it still makes one feel bad when actually seeing it in print.

As for crossing Abbey Road... it was one of the first things I wanted to do on my first visit back in the 70's.
London tour operators actually have a JACK THE RIPPER WALK. I find retracing the Beatles steps just a much fun. Sorry if you find it boring.
Sad

Hi there,

Don't be offended by the comments above. Living in London does strange things to you, you get used to living at 1000 miles an hour and even the smallest things can annoy you.

I drive along Abbey road a fair bit and I must admit it is quite annoying when people are taking photos whilst crossing, you don't know whether or not they're intending to cross or are just posing for a picture.

All the best

Oh well despite the amount of money tourists pump into this country I guess it doesn't mean a thing to Londoners. Hmm anyway. like Mogwai said, living in london does things to you so maybe londoners have an excuse at the ready. Well do what you want to do in london when you are here after all that is why you came here in the first place. Money in exchange for the experience... Fair game and of course Londoners have a right to express their dismay at some of the things people do.

Sad I found this forum an thought i'd join, being a girl from Glasgow who loves coming down to see London! I felt so compelled to add my comment. I find it unbelievable the way Londoners apparently speak about people coming to visit! I have always thought it'd be so great to see the famous crossing at Abbey Rd, being a big Beatles fan! How can you not expect fans from all over the world to not be eager to see the place!!! It's world famous, don't you know?!?! but comments like these put me off a bit. It doesn't seem a v nice attitude to have towards people who are keen to see this wonderful place, and getting called horrid tourists is such an insult! i just can't get my head around it! I mean i feel pleased&happy when people come to Glasgow&think it's great that we have a lovely city - i don't think of them as a pain, nor do the majority of Glaswegians, they're actually welcoming!!

Why on earth can't people from London have the same appreciation and pride! People are willing to die to get there and yet you have so many people apparently complain about it! Some of us aren't there all the time so it would be so great if it were recognised that 'tourists' are obviously excited about seeing all the great things there is to see in London! i hate the way some people seem to take it for granted grrrrr.

That's got that off my chest!!!

Come live in London for 3 months or more, it will start to become clear. I hate the place, it's impossible to do anything without being referred to the correct department and everyone is looking after themselves in the rudest way possible.

;) I will be in London next week and you better bet I'll be on Abbey Road having my picture taken. I'm sorry if it bothers you I'll try to avoid your bumper.
Any other places that I should visit? :)
