3 years ago tomorrow (19/12/2008) a friend of mine from my school days died (I didn't find out until a year ago and was devastated). She was dragged under the wheels of a snow truck after saving the life of her 10 year old brother who would have suffered the same fate. She was 21. This year she received a posthumous Medal of Bravery.

The snow truck didn't stop. It didn't have safety guards at the sides to preent this from happening. Nobody was blamed because of Quebec's 'No-fault' insurance law.

Jessica's family are campaigning to the Canadian prime minister to have a few laws changed... they are 'asking for immediate changes in Quebec's no-fault insurance laws (Article 83.57) to re-instate accountability and demand that Montreal's archaic traffic signals be updated, together with the introduction of truck under guard (lateral) protection legislation similar to that used in Europe.'

So please if you have just a couple of minutes to spare (it doesn't take long, honestly), whatever country you're from, please visit the website and click the links to send a virtual letter to the prime minister to show support for their campaign.

She was a lovely, bright, excitable and beautiful young lady. And she was my friend. I was waiting for her to come back and visit us in London and now it makes me so sad that I will never see her again. This campaign is to help prevent this kind of horrible and devastating thing happening to other families.

Thanks for reading.
