When I was growing up it was "Father Christmas" but more and more people are now saying "Santa" which I always thought was an Americanism?

What does everyone refer to the fat bloke that comes down your chinmey and scoffs all your pies as?

We dont have a chimbly, so he has a 'magic key'. As for his name, as long as he brings presents you can call him Ploppy for all the kids care!!

Aww poor QMB, the butt of all joke about pies, donoughts & fat blokes

When i was little we called him Father Christmas
My kids call him Father Christmas & sometimes Santa.

I write Santa when i can't be bothered to write out Father Christmas.... lazy cow i know :emb:

I was talking to my 3yr old the other day about Christmas eve & Father Christmas coming to bring the presents.
I said 'He'll park the reindeers outside & come & deliver your presents etc etc'.

After all my chatting away, my son looked at me & said 'Well actually mum, i was watching peppa pig yesterday & father christmas actually parks his sleigh on the roof, not out on the street'
That told me

So is Secret Santa an American thing? Or does it just have a better jingle to it than Secret Father Christmas...?
