Cannabis Event allowed to go ahead

I agree with the decision to ban the event, this is after all a controlled substance.

Why should an event that promotes the use of an illegal substance be allowed? The reason for banning it is, I believe, that drug dealers were harassing locals in Brockwell Park and people were blatantly smoking cannabis.

If people want to smoke it fine, I don't care if they want to smoke themselves into unconciousness for whatever reason. But I do mind when they want to bitch and moan about legalising it. It's a controlled substance for a reason, legalising it and unrestricting its use sends out a dangerous message.

Well done Lambeth Council.

You’re right, it is strictly illegal, but I don’t think the point of the event is to walk around with a spliff in-hand and flagrantly flout the law. The march itself is a freedom of speech thing isn’t it? Which, as long as we live in a democracy, has every right to take place.

So there! :)

I think there's two different events being talking about here. The march is an event in protest of the event in Brockwell Park being banned isn't it?

If the event was turning into an annual toke fest that dealers were using for a sales drive then I don't think the council had any choice did they?

I've got to say, I'm not in favour of this.

OK we all do it at college, but I think it's about the most deconstructive thing I've ever done. I found large chunks of my vocabulary desserting me whilst I was doing it - and for about 6 months after. I also got really moody.

I know people say there's no harm in it, but from my personal experiences I think a nation of tokers is only going to lead to a malaise of an unconstructive generation.

I really think it's a big cause of problems.

Keep it banned.
