Wossailing is this strange old pagan ritual that is done on 12th night and it's supposed to encourage a good cider apple harvest for the coming year.
I went to one a couple of years ago - and then again to one earlier this week - and they're really good fun.
Basically it envolves some Morris Men dancing around a tree in an orchard singing and dancing and pouring cider on the ground, then they soak a piece of Christmas cake in cider and put it in the fork of the tree and then fire some guns!
... and all of this is done insider a ring of fire!
Yes I must admit, it does sound a bit weird when you read it back.
It's really good fun though - definitely something a bit different to do on a Tuesday night.
PLUS - the lovely Morris Men give you loads of free cider! Result.
