I work with Cafe de paris, 10 rooms, dunes, and many other top west end clubs.

Hi -

Well one cheap and hugely fun thing to do (as I did) is to hire a band and have a private party in a central London pub room. There are two I have used which do not charge anything at all for room hire. One is on the edge of Soho...trendy downstairsbar of a pub off charing x road. The other is around the St John St area. Both parties I had at each were superb and the cost was minimal...basically whateer you want to spend on buffet food from the pub plus the cost of hiring a band. The band I hired was cheap and was truly excellent. Email me if you want all the info and I will send it onto you both.

Depends on your budget, but what about going to a theatre show with a celebrity in it.

Like, at the moment, Nigel Harman - (Den) is in Guys and Dolls.

Depends how many there are going out though... if there's 50 it might get a bit expensive!

Have a great time, whatever you decide to do!

Hi,

Well for the suggestion I gave you...private party and hiring a band here is the info. This is based upon my own 'do' and that of a friend's.

Venues: The Bull, St John Street. Free hire of a nice room/area in their pub. I have been here...its really nice, trendy/young. Not a stuff old pub. Food costs for really nice buffet was about 60 pounds.
OR
The Royal George. Again free hire of their basement bar. Similar funky sort of pub. Food was a bit more...about 100 pounds. (based on around 35 to 45 people).

Band Hire: So many options. My mate hired a really great band that did Bluesy/Funky music. Relaxed type tunes early on and then full on dancing/party numbers later. Very nice and friendly. Cost was about 200 pounds. They also had their own speakers and stuff for playing CD based music in the breaks between the live music.

If you want the name/contact info for all this let me know and I will dig it out for you.

Thanx a lot that has really helped. I did think of spending within £60-100 range. If you only have like 2o people, will it be cheaper?

Hi -

To answer your question. Well if you were spending £100 the band I used would probably still do it. The room in the pub would be free still. Though if you had only 20 people they would reserve an area of the room for you rather than the whole room itself. SHould still be great though.
The only thing then is re: food...you would have to spend a bit more for the food. But how about letting people order for themselves OR contribute £3 each from the guests and pre-order £60 of food.

If you want more info you can email me at [email protected] I can help organise the band ..I don't mind...they were so great at my "do". And I know the landlady at the pub if you want me to pass on your info.
