I've been to London hundreds of times, and as such, I've been to Chinatown hundreds of times. But this is the first time I have been there for the New Year celebrations.

They should be having more celebrations and entertainment tomorrow (Sunday 1st Feb) so I highly recommend going and taking a look.

We saw lots of lion dances, and got some great photos (Will submit a few to the photography section, I think). Local businesses (of which there are a LOT) hang a lettuce with a red envelope with money inside attached from their doorways. The Lion(s) go round to each shop and 'eat' the lettuce and take the money and this brings the business good luck and fortune. Given the amount of shops there are and the fact there's a few lions, there's always an opportunity to get a good view. And because of the lettuces, you can tell where the lion is going to go.

I wanted to get a marionnette lion puppet but decided against it. However it's bugging me that I really want one, so I think I might go back and get one after my Kung Fu lesson tomorrow...

Has anyone else been to the celebrations? Or planning to go?
