Who finds London dirty?

Hi April,

It depends where you go/live. I live in St John's Wood now and I find it very clean. I used to live in Clapham and found that to be quite dirty in some areas, litter was always a big problem.

The state of an area is generally a reflection of the amount of money/effort the council finds it necessary to spend on it to keep the residents happy.

I'm always surprised that the West End isn't a lot dirtier than it is, the cleaning teams generally do a great job.

London is dirty because the people who live in the city can't be bothered to do simple tasks like throwing rubbish in bins. The council should have more power to punish those who litter our streets.

lol. Seriously though, if london is meant to be a capital city AND an international city... one that is prosperous and supposedly a "model" for developing countries... shouldn't we set a better example? I mean, every week I see people throwing rubbish on the street like its a normal thing to do.....

Dear dear, its not JUST London is it?
The whole country is dirty, nobody care`s anymore..
They just throw wrappers or anything on the ground, you see these dirty people in cars doing the same thing, Disgusting!.

My Mum told me when I was a little girl, if you have any sweet packets ect, to put it in your pocket and take it home, then put it in the bin!...
Hey, not so difficult...
Do you think people will change?, I doubt it, just to add, the other day in the Fareham area, I was just going by a shop, never noticed this squashed milk carton on the ground, stood on it and I had milk going up my brand new expensive jeans grrr....

Progress eh?.

Like many large cities, there is a bit more rubbish in certain areas...but, I'm more bothered by what's in the air. I've come home on more than one occaision with this thin layer of grime on my skin after a full day out and about in town. Don't notice it on my hands as bad...most likely as they're washed frequently...but, just a fine layer of dirt wherever the skin isn't covered by clothing. What's up with that?

I have just returned from a trip to London, not having been there for a few years and I was amazed at how dirty and disgusting it has become. The streets are filled with rubbish, bins are overflowing, gum and dog crap everywhere. I was so glad to get away form it and return to a clean town. I used to think where I lived was bad but now I see we are light years ahead of London.
