living in London,.Help!

Hi my fiancee and i are moving to London in September,she is going to Kings University,.and i am looking for work on the west end as a singer.I have work lined up in clubs on London outskirts,we are not wealthy by any means,we want to find somewhere in London where she can easily get to uni every day,we dont want an exciting area,we just want somewhere quiet and above all safe,but not too dear,any ideas,,please help,Thanks
