STOCKWELL!!!!!

Hellooooooooooooooooooo!!!! I have lived in North London for 3 years now. but me and my boyfriend are taking that BIG step of moving in with each other....yes, I'm growing up! :(

as we both work in south london, we are wanting to move to that area. we have seen some REALLY great flats in Stockwell. but as I dont know the area i would REALLY love your views on it.
soooooo, Stockwell....up and coming??? or the biggest mistake we're about to make???

If I am honest I dont like it at all , you could try out towards Purley or south croydon, its not to far away from stockwell, but much nicer and the rent will be better as well... Or get a south London guardian paper it will show whats available for your budget.

Go spend the day there and see what you think of it day and evening perhaps and get a good look at the place. It may be just what you are looking for!!!!

Have to say I agree - I'm not keen on Stockwell really. I'd say move further up the northern line towards Clapham/Balham or head towards Clapham Junction. Much friendlier and loads more bars/restaurants/shops.

I think it really depends on what you are looking for and where you want to work and play. With the Victoria Line and Northern Line tubes there are few places in London where you can get to West London, East London and South London so quickly.

If you are looking for trendy bars on your same street or getting into the center of London is not important to you, then you might want to consider where the others have suggested.
