I have just started this "maple syrup" diet basically a liquid detox and you dont eat while doing it, your suppose to do it for 2 weeks but we will see. I have heard wonderous things about it also bad things.

I have been unwell reccently and on antibiotics also feel ill and get a cold a lot prbably because of my poor diet (i love chips) so no better time than after easter to give it a go.....

Day 1: Started today with the ingredience of maple syrup and cayenne pepper in hot water just been looking online and you acctually need fresh lemon too. So i put to much of the pepper in at first burned my throat! you only need a pinch so take 2...its not to bad acctually bit of a kick with the pepper and the syrup makes it sweet minus the lemon at the moment.

(if you are going to attempt this do your research and its always best to consult a doctor and just be sensible)

Tbh if all you're eating is maple syrup then I cannot possibly see how it would be good for you in any way. Your body needs a balanced mixture of nutritions, proteins, vitamins etc etc. A short fix is only ever a short fix. When people do faddy diets they may lose weight temporarily. But keeping weight off and being healthy is a lifestyle change on a permanent basis. I can't imagine any doctor condoning this kind of diet.

That said what you do is up to you but I dunno I think posting about fad diets in any kind of positive light could be a bad influence on younger teenage girls.

Not a dig at you, Ellie, you knows I likes you :)

Thanks for the advice i totally agree i am doing this as a detox experament as i have never tried anything like this.

People have been fasting since the time of Jesus and in some other religions (i am not religous and thats a whole other thread)

so does anyone think that detoxing your body is good?

I think detoxing itself is good - the idea of getting all the bad stuff out. I just think there are probably better ways to do it. 2 weeks of maple syrup seems like a long time!!

And with the people who fast, what do they eat when they do eat? I think that's more about self sacrifice than detoxing so I think they get to eat a bit more weighty food. However I can't pretend I'm an expert :D

oh and this sort of information is very widely available online and i would rather it came from me than some pro anarexic site which i am very against, i am in no way encouraging anyone any age or sex to do this.

This is a detox plan i am doing for 4 days and i would not suggest you do it any longer as it only takes 24 to 72** hours for food to pass through your body all the way so in my eyes for a detox it is going to take 4 days and any longer is starving yourself.

I look forward to a healthy balanced diet after this.

** Digestion time varies depending on the individual. For healthy adults, it's usually between 24 and 72 hours. After you eat, it takes about six to eight hours for food to pass through your stomach and small intestine. Food then enters your large intestine (colon) for further digestion and absorption of water. Elimination of undigested food residue through the large intestine usually begins after 24 hours. Complete elimination from the body may take several days.
