I see you are on deviantart. Have you considered teaching art or going through a volunteer organization?
Even with the current economy, teachers are still needed. Check with the Department of Education for the state of Florida to see if they have any ways around official certification.

might offer some information on how to live there while volunteering. Some organisations provide a small living stipend and limited health care or help with finding housing in exchange for paying for your own travel and commitment to a project.
And if the official channels kick rocks, try craigslist.org (housing/jobs/art connections) posts by a lot of private and business sources.
