I must admit the last time I've been to that Pub was in 1968 ... I've met my sweetheart there back in 1966 ... In 1968 we both moved to Brussels were we have lived happily together for 44 years ... I do not know what this pub is like nowadays, but I'll always think back fondly to those happy years I spent in London. The William IV stands as a "shrine" for me, because it is thanks to them that I met my love. Sadly he died suddenly last year. I have told my friends that whenever they go to London, to make sure to go to 77 Hampstead High street.

The William has gone from bad to worse over the past couple of years. The atmosphere should be one of sophistication and class, instead you have vulgar adverts around the pub and in the toilet.
Last time I visited they were doing line cleaning; this was a Friday night! Had no real ale on. The music was too loud, I couldn't even hear my friend talk!
This pub must be on its last legs, its empty almost every night.

What a transformation. The King William has had many managers over the past years but since being bought privately (last year i think) the atmosphere, decor, food and staff have come a long way. Whether this is your first steps onto the gay scene or whether you are a seasoned pro this is a sicerely welcoming place to go. There are regularly events happening there and if you would like to know more then i would suggest that you pop along and take a look at the many posters that they have up.

The beer garden too has been transformed and is now a pleasant place to spend an afternoon in the sunshine!

Well done boys!
