The Queen Adelaide is a friendly local pub which has a beer garden and a children's playground. It serves traditional ale and has Sky television, and a selection of traditional English dishes.

Went there last night and ordered a burger which was £8.30 quite expensive and the beef patty tasted like it had come out of a can. Would not order that again. Really disappointed. Chips were good though. Pub is nice and comfortable too. Although the wine list is very expensive which I found a bit of a shock.

As a local, I have been here a lot. The food is always good, some dishes in particular (roast lamb and pies are excellent). However, the service is variable to say the least. We have been served cheese and biscuits only to be told there is no butter (after we'd started eating the cheese - why couldn't they send someone to the nearby shop which is open until midnight?), they charge extra if you have chips instead of potatoes, we've been brought a more expensive bottle of wine than we'd ordered. Nothing majorly wrong, but with such a choice in Putney, I'm in no hurry to go back.

Having watched and waited whilst Youngs renovated this pub last year we have now eaten and there several times. The menu has traditional pub fayre but also more modern items appealing to house price exiles from Chelsea. We've tried Steak and Mushroom Pudding (which was a proper pudding, not some dish with a soggy cover), Tuna with Chorizo, Specialty Sausages and the Smoked Fish deli board. The portions are large, the chips are actually crunchy (and plenty of them). Bannoffee pie is excellent to finish. They keep 3 draft bitters, some lagers and the wine list even extends to a choice of Champagnes by the glass. Last time we went, 3 got starter and main for 52 pounds (+ drinks).

The interiors are fantasticly done, the garden has a good continental feel. This disappointment came when i ordered food. Chicken Cesar with mayonaise in Ciabata with a side order of fries, a simple order one wouls have thought. The ciabati bread was stale, the mayonaise was missing and the sizewise the sandwich was frankly embarrassingly small. (£4.95) Side order of chips comes in a small dish and has 8 chips in, yes i counted them in disbelief (£2.00). I asked for the missing mayonaise TWICE then went and got it myself. I then tucked in to my morsals and it had no real taste to it.To sum up as soon as i left i went to the local shop to buy lunch.
