The idea behind i = u is simple: to present a series of events that emphasize a balanced interaction between performers, and also, between performers and audience members. This series will be founded on an ideal of equality between us, where we actually aim to listen to one another.

Curated events will focus on exposing audiences to the world of interaction that exists between performers as they create. We will feature collaborations between musicians and visual artists, dancers, and poets, representing diverse perspectives from various genres.

By deconstructing the formalities of the usual ‘concert’ setting, performance is recast as a part of everyday life and communication. In that spirit, every event will incorporate an aspect of improvisation, bringing spontaneity to the moment.

It is our intention to bring the audience closer to the performer, and the creative process. To accomplish this, performances will include innovative ways of highlighting the construction of works. Open rehearsals and workshops will allow audiences to witness informal interaction between artists, and give them an opportunity to interact directly with the artists themselves.

Curated by Eugene Feygelson, Noam Faingold, and Michael Dylan Ferrara through partnership with Guest Projects, London.
