Following the success of the Holborn original, All Star Lanes has brought its unique blend of great food and 50s fun to trendy West London. Just minutes from Bayswater station, the venue boasts eight bowling lanes, a cocktail bar and a retro diner serving up tasty American classics. The laid-back vibe and comfy booths make it a great choice for post-work parties and weekend gatherings alike. The main menu features familiar favourites like tender baby back ribs, steaks and Texas chilli con carne. The bar serves some excellent Californian wines, beers, and whisky cocktails, but if you’re hoping for a strike you should stick to their delicious shakes.

All In London Review

The luxury option to work on your 7-10 split

Review Image
There are people who love bowling and then there are people who think it is alright; you don’t often find anyone who just hates bowling. That’s probably why it is such a successful social pastime for us. What could be tedious about eating BBQ, drinking beer and chucking a heavy ball at a row of skittles? Not a lot we tell you. Not a lot. All Star Lanes has made a business out of promoting that fun filled triptych with places all over London doing it in their name. Each branch is different and over in Bayswater, we’re feeling it.

Extravagant, boutique, pretentious? Call it what you want. Cinemas did it and ten pin bowling followed. However you look at it, this is luxury bowling. There are six lanes plus a further two that come with their own cocktail bar for when you’re looking for a private place to hone your skills on the 7-10 split. Done up like an all-American diner crossed with some kind of hunting lodge that’s been fed through a Lynch-ifier, the décor is attractively kitsch without going too far. The diner booths are perfect for elbows-together rib eating, the lane service means you’ll never miss your turn and the music is loud and invasive enough to give your strike celebrations a soundtrack.

The food probably wasn’t inspired by the American junk-food revolution in London but it fits in with it anyway. There are steaks, racks of ribs, grilled lobsters, burgers, fried chicken and Big Apple Hot Dogs on a menu that covers every greasy base of fried food. We eat the ribs. They are sticky, meaty, tender strips that are about good enough. No, they’re no Rib Man, Duke’s or Pitt Cue but we respect them all the same. Drinks range from cocktails (reasonably priced at around £6.50 each) to imported beers. We drink the Moosehead Lager and the excellent Goose Island Honkers. Otherwise it’s Coors Light and then you might as well be drinking fizzy water.

Great atmosphere, good food in ample portions and a solid selection of cocktails and beers are what you will find here. But we know why you really read down this far… Well, we scored 300*, the maximum, because we were born to bowl.

*More like 102.

The west London outpost of the All Star Lanes franchise is one of the most essential. There is diner style eating to be had, craft beers to be drunk and the lure of 1950’s style ten pin bowling for if conversation needs helping along.

This place has a really great atmosphere. All 50s america, with fantastic music and GREAT milkshakes! Most bowling places i've been to in london on a sunday afternoon have been a bit frantic and rammed with teens and kids which can get a bit much after a while; but this place was mellow and spacious despite only having a handful of lanes. service was really good and the shoes are so much nicer than the normal ones - i wanted to take them home with me! The nicest bowling alley ive been to. Drinks and milkshakes are good, but didn't try the food as i'd already stuffed my face before arriving!

I went to All Star Lanes in Baywater last week for my boyfriend's birthday and I have to say I was really impressed. I am not an enthusiastic bowler at all but that is definitely not all this venue is about. The service was really excellent - our server was so friendly and knowledgable about both the drinks and the food. We ended up eating a full three courses in the diner followed by a game of bowling, and my average definitely went up as the night wore on thanks to the fab cocktail list on offer! You get bar service right to the lanes which I've never known before at a bowling alley, and relaxing in the main bar after our game was probably my favourite part of the evening. It's got a retro, 1950s feel to it which really adds to the atmosphere, and all the staff were dressed up to match in 1950s style uniforms! If you are looking for a fun, relaxing evening out then I would definitely recommend trying this place - it's got everything to make a good night out. Bowling, good music, good food, and AMAZING drinks. I will definitely be going back!
