Awesome service from start to finish. We had a full house refurb with new layout, kitchens, bathrooms, electrics, heating - basically the lot. Building and Handyman came in on time and on budget, professional project management ensured a smooth operation. Highly recommended!

I have used Building and Handyman for about 9 nine years to manage a tenanted property. They have been extremely efficient and helpful, bringing things to my attention when necessary. When work has been needed they have found cost effective solutions for the job. During that time I have only had one tenant and believe that Building and Handyman service has kept both tenant and landlord happy!

I have used Building and Handyman for a variety of building work on my property over the last couple of years and have been very happy with the result. I had a complete slate re-roof, guttering and fascia replaced and Velux fitted. Building and Handyman was very thorough with their quote and filled me with confidence due to his knowledge and experience. I was given good advice and the price was very competitive. The work was carried out in good time to a high standard and I would recommend him for further work

Before deciding who to use for our bathroom and kitchen renovation we spoke to 4 different builders. Richard, from Building and Handyman was the only builder who responded to our requirements clearly, accurately and in good time. His communication prior to starting the job was excellent as we decided to make a few scope changes. Each time he gave us a revised quote with the amended scope clearly identified.
Once he got working on the project his communication was excellent with what he was working on and he would always ask if there was something he needed our opinion on, usually cosmetic things. Their standard of work was excellent and we're really pleased with our new bathroom and kitchen. I would highly recommend Building and Handyman to anyone looking for similar work.

Great local service!
What i love most about Building and Handyman is that i can just leave them to it. I have used them for some time now and love the fact i can leave my keys with them and as soon as returning from the school run have they been and gone with the issue sorted!

Very frustrating experince. All very professional and helpful in person at the outset but the quality of the work and project management was very poor. We had our bathroom removed in May and replaced in June. In April the following year we are still in dispute over the cost of getting our ceiling replaced following leaks from the shower. Many other aspects also in dispute, including partially done works and paint stained carpet. Avoid!!

I used Building & Handyman for the first time yesterday, they are truly wonderful. The office staff were extremely helpful and managed to reschedule my appointment to suit us. Basically all the lights had tripped in our house, they sent a lovely man called Dennis who found the problem immediately, it was a faulty dinner, he then gave us further advice which was extremely helpful, we will most definitely be using this company again.

The work this company did was pretty basic and was only completed to an average standard. Considering the charge so much I would have expected better. They also adjusted their rates (apparently in May) but their Website states the old rates. You also get a shock on your bill when you are charge extra time because they turn up earlier (we weren't home) so we paid for time spent sitting in a car. These are I the fine print but this should be mentioned up front. No other tradesman has ever charge for doing nothing before!! Make sure you get the facts before using them.

I am sorry to hear this. We carry out multiple reactive jobs. We endeavour to give an accurate timeline but stress by email beforehand that the time is an estimate due to proceeding jobs and can be earlier or later but charge from time of arrival. If this does not suit a client we can always offer the next 8am slot which is a guaranteed time. The website rates were amended but there was an error in the terms as this was not updated however the email prior to the visit stated the correct cost. I apologise if you feel aggrieved and am more than happy to discuss this with you.

I called to book a handyman for all sorts of little jobs, the list was endless. The lady in the office said, I will send Dennis, he is liked by all our customers and is a all round handyman. I gave him the list and room by room he worked through it. All jobs done, so so happy, will definitely be using this firm again. thank you.

I have just had Michael round to fix a leak that two other main plumbing firms (which I will not name) have failed to resolve. Within no time at all Michael found the leak and all was sorted.

I have just had Building & Handyman here this week to do various handyman jobs and only wanted to pay for 2 hours, they did everything on my to do list, they were so good that I booked them to come back and do some more jobs on Friday. I have decided I will be using them for various work whilst we move abroad and let out our house.

My first time today 21.02.14 to use Building & Handyman, can not praise them enough. Very efficient. Cameron arrived first thing and changed five down lights. He was so pleasant and such a delight to have working at my house. Extremely happy with his work, just been in to pay my bill and will most certainly be using them again.

I just wanted to say how amazing this company is, I booked them yesterday 20/02/14 for a job I am almost too embarrassed to write about. I bought these new amazing Porta Romana lamps and needed new small plugs put on them and a few spotlights I could not reach replacing. Michael arrived on time and got the jobs done in no time at all. Just used this helpful team again today thanks to the storm at the weekend. Lead flashing on roof was allowing water to come in to my daughters bedroom, Lynn at the office called me first thing this morning and was able to get her team across to me straight away. The two chaps got straight to work and the problem was sorted in no time at all. They also did a few other handyman jobs for me whilst they were here. Good work guys, thanks ever so much.

They send a different guy to each job everyday so have to start over with what you want done. Jobs are rushed, simple materials are over priced. I was recommended them by someone and wouldn't use them again. Business built up and now outsourced to anyone that'll turn up each day.

I called Building and Handyman again as my hall light just stopped working. Danny came to my rescue, gosh he is so competent, he also fixed one of my spot lights in the kitchen that has been broken for years, as well as fix the broken door handle on my bathroom door. Can not praise this co enough.

I have been using this wonderful company for many years now and wanted to add a review to say how super the entire team is. No matter how large or small the job, they just sort it. They are reliable, trustworthy and always on time. In fact Danny is calling to fix my front door lock today.

Started using Building and handyman for minor repair works over the last couple of years. They always seem to be reasonably priced and ON TIME. On one occasion of there drivers over ran and they called and emailed me. They have just completed by bathroom and I couldn't be happier.

Dishonest way of advertising "no call-out charge". They sent an engineer who switched the boiler on and off for 45mins (no different than the checks I had done with no experience on the matter). He left admitting that he could not work out the problem and could only suggest to change one of the parts "to see what happens", but there was no guarantee that they may need to change other parts. (They didn't even offer a guarantee on their work/parts after it was completed). I wasn't very confident that they knew what they were doing so did not want them to come back. I was billed £100 for having an engineer come around for 45mins and tell me they did not know what to do. Not impressed at all. The honest way for engineers to work should be by inspecting the issue/providing a solution/and providing a quote for the work. It is dishonest to advertise no call-out charge and then charge when there was no labour done at all.

I have used this company several times and have always found them to be utterly capable, polite and extremely responsive. On friday 13th(!)I had a major leak in my lounge radiator, within literally minutes James (the project manager) was in my lounge with a spanner. He stopped the leak and his swift thinking to also check my basement saved me from undoubtedly much more extensive and very expensive damage - the water had been pouring through onto the wooden basement floor and was speeding towards some artwork. He quickly helped me get the towels and mop onto it. They have since overhauled my heating system so this wont happen again. I shall always be using them going forward and cannot recommend them highly enough.

Used this company before christmas 2011 to do a job. they quoted 2 hours and took 5. Didnt turn up on the first day of the job and insisted they had cancelled it.had to re scheduale job. Manager [EDIT] very aggressive and rude. Would never ever use them again.

The carpenter we had was excellent. Built us some lovely cupboards and laid a wood floor. He was very tidy and efficient. The office was very helpful .All in all a very impressive service. Would highly recommend them. Well done BH

Wow! I was recomended to use BH by someone in my road. I was told they had a very good local reputation. I used them for 2 or 3 small handyman jobs and found them skilled, polite and proffessional. This gave me the confidence to ask them to do a large job of refurbishing 2 bathrooms and fully re decorating. They provided me with a schedule before they started. I was kept informed throughout the project. The men on site were tidy and very friendly. The finished job was exactly what i wanted. Well done to the team. 10 out of 10 for me!

The project manager gave me the confidence to use this firm even though the reviews back in 2006 were poor. The more recent reviews suggested serious improvement. Unfortunately,this was not the case. Over 50% of their workmen are not professional in my opinion and actually fairly incompetent. Poor finishing on most jobs was not expected as they were expensive, but that is what I got. The job was suppose to take 4-5 days and in the end it took 3 weeks due to staff being pulled from my job to other jobs (working on the owners house in France rather than servicing their customers!!). On top of that, the price increased 10% on the whole project and certain workmen were over estimating time spent on the job. One or two workmen were good, but best to avoid this company as I was told that there are large numbers of complaints by other customers (according to their own staff). Very disappointing. Read the old reviews as they were right. I did better woodwork at 8yrs old!

A fairly straightforward bit of DIY was done shoddily, took 2 hours when it should have taken 20 minutes and was still not done properly. They sent someone to remedy it but its still a mess. When we challenged the cost they put an aggressive debt collector on us which has now added legal costs to the bill as well - we have reluctantly paid up to avoid any further hassle but we certainly wont be using them again or recommending them. What a pity - a promising local business but we feel badly let down by their attitude.
