Half Moon Theatre

The Half Moon theatre group has always had altruistic aims. Today it’s a young people’s theatre, giving the under 25s a chance to dip their toes intothe world of stage productions, but it was originally founded in 1972 with a slightly different purpose. Its first home was a disused synagogue, and the founders’ idea was to run cheap rehearsal studios and living quarters. Since 2014 its location has been a Victorian building in Limehouse. The theatre runs six groups for different age groups, plus one for disabled young people; the shows, which include popular kids’ stories as well as new plays, are only £6 to watch. There’s a small snack bar on the premises, but rather than charge exorbitant prices for sarnies and crisps you’re welcome to take your own picnic.
