The Design Museum was first opened in 1989 and is the world’s premier venue for Industrial Design, Architecture and Fashion. The original site of a former warehouse, the Design Museum was housed in a striking white building with views of the Thames and Tower Bridge. The founder of the Museum was Sir Terence Conran, the driving force behind the Boilerhouse design project- formerly housed in the Victoria and Albert Museum.

The museum moved to a new site in the heart of Kensington and remains Britain's leading museum devoted to contemporary architecture and design. Through its engaging exhibitions, learning programme and events, the museum aims to inspire everyone to understand the value of design and the vital contribution it makes to society and the economy.

The Design Museum stands not only as a celebration of mass production and technological design but is also the UK's largest provider of education resources and runs many courses for students and teachers alike.

Open every day (excluding Christmas Day and Boxing Day) from 10:00 to 18:00 – last entry 17:00
