All In London Review

Ercol style armchairs, chic kitchen storage, amazing textiles and great coffee

Review Image
Having become mildly obsessed with the mixture of great coffee and worldly interior design at Pitfield, I was approaching the point where going cold turkey was the only option left to avoid this local wonderland. That’s right, wonderland. No hyperbole here. Daily trips to Pitfield were the drug I needed to see me right. In the end I just moved further away.

Part shop, part café, it didn’t take long for Pitfield to become a London original. Like the classic stores of Labour and Wait and Magma, it has a level of stock so stunningly curated that it makes you want to cry at the thought of going back home to your mismatched bookshelves, vulgar TV and battered Ikea two-seater. Or maybe that’s just me. With a range of products that includes cooking, cleaning, gardening, living and vintage furniture, it is easy to linger here. And after an hour or so of Ercol style armchairs, chic kitchen storage and amazing textiles there’s a café waiting on the other side of the large space.

Cakes and pastries are the bread and butter – so to speak – of most cafes but at Pitfield there is more. Fresh salads, flatbreads, baguettes and bagels are available alongside hot dishes, which range from pies to lasagne. It is BUSY during the day here - judging by the lunch rush I’m not the only one to have fallen for Pitfield’s charm. Good food, organic teas, artisan coffee and an eclectic selection of homewares. Pitfield is so east London.

If you love beautiful homeware items then you'd best dig out your credit card...

Often, when you’re on the look out for classy designer wares and soft furnishings you get hungry and thirsty. Pitfield clearly knew that and came along with its beautiful space on – you guessed it – Pitfield Street. The store is one half deli/coffeeshop, one half homeware shop, which makes it one whole awesome.

Every home needs a bit of furniture (otherwise it's just, like, a box)

It’s a classic event in our world. You’re out for coffee in a hip, Shoreditch café-cum-shop and the next thing you know you’re buying yourself a new sofa. Everyone does it. At least everyone could do it at Pitfield. Because not only does this “hip Shoreditch café-cum-shop” sell great coffee and cake but it also sells Hessian sack armchairs and other smart pieces to furnish your house-cum-installation. But serious; it’s full of beautiful furniture.
