All In London Review
On weekends extra seating is moored against the towpath in the form of a large floating platform
Located on the Regents Canal, north of Kingsland Road, Towpath is roughly equidistant between Victoria Park and Camden. Originally operating as a simple hatch in one of the industrial units that line the canal, the café has now spread so it is able to offer seating in further carved out spaces, which are set back from the water. Still, nothing about Towpath (unless you work there) is shielded from the elements completely. Sure, you can bask in the sun in summer but wrap up if the weather’s cold because there is no escape.
Serving anything from artisan meats and cheeses to the best coffee you can get on the canal, people come for more than just the serene location. On weekends extra seating is moored against the towpath in the form of a large floating platform and the outdoor cookout begins. This could be hanger steak one week and paella the next, either way the food is always top notch, cooked on a makeshift BBQ. Established by food writer Lori De Mori and her husband, food photographer Jason Lowe, you wouldn’t expect anything less. The blood orange juice is always worth sampling and there is a small selection of wine, along with a Bellini of sorts that we got to sample on our last visit.
Great food, great coffee, good wine and one of the most charming locations in London, Towpath Café sells itself.

The Towpath Café on De Beavoir Crescent is a local treasure. It’s loved for its good coffee, comforting food and canalside seating, some of which is on a floating pontoon. Although the café is housed inside four concrete bunkers most of the tables are unprotected from the elements, so bear in mind it’s not open between December and February.
