As the frost creeps in across London, wrap up in woollen blankets on Ham Yard Hotel’s leafy rooftop garden with sweeping views over the London skyline and find yourself sipping on historically inspired hot gin serves from Sipsmith including Hot G&Ts and Steaming Juleps.
Transporting the enchantment of London winters past to modern day, creative duo Sipsmith Master Distiller Jared Brown and Ham Yard Hotel bar manager Eoin Kenny have delved into London drinking past – from as early as the 16th century right through to the 1920s – to craft a very modern sipping menu.
Warm serves will include The Smoking Bishop, which was a favourite of Charles Dickens; The Original, which is a pairing of gin with gingerbread, noted as the first London pairing during the Frost Fairs; and the Soho Gin Broth, which uses Barthelmas beef taken from a recipe from 1664.
