All In London Review
Modern, buzzy restaurant in an office block
I struggled to find my way out of the underground maze of shopping malls and transport hubs so it’s probably best you seek it out at street level.
There’s a super-busy bar on ground level at the front and an elegant restaurant towards the rear. Dominating the room is an x-shaped stunningly designed open staircase through the centre which acts as a partition between the bar and restaurant. Upstairs is a further small bar (with an interesting table top game) and the loos.
The music was loud enough to hear but not too loud. Eclectic choice of sounds but pleasant. We were seated in one of the booths although there were ordinary tables and chairs.
We opted for a fixed price three course menu with a glass of wine (£13.25) but there was a wide choice. I had a baked celeriac salad (£7.50) and my companion tried the whitebait (£8). We both had fishcakes (£14) and hand cut chips (£3.50). The chocolate mousse (£6) was an excellent end to the meal. A further glass of wine (£11) rounded things off.
As you would expect, the clientele were mostly office workers – all very smart although there were a few couples and groups that appeared to be on a night out.
Considering the central location, the fabulous décor and atmosphere and the quality of the food £65 including service felt like extremely good value.
