Help fight homelessness with Shelter’s Vertical Rush at Tower 42

If you’re looking for a new exercise challenge for 2017 sign up to Shelter’s Vertical Rush – the UK’s original tower-running event – and help fight homelessness at the same time.

The event will see eager ‘Rushers’ race against the clock up all 932 steps of London’s Tower 42. Situated in the heart of the City, the iconic Tower is twice the height of Big Ben, so challengers will be rewarded with an unbeatable view of the Capital at the finish line.

Taking place on Thursday 9 March 2017, 1,000 runners will power up Tower 42 in waves from 8am to 5pm to raise more than £260,000 for housing and homelessness charity Shelter. Most tackle the Tower in under 15 minutes, meaning runners could help make a big difference to the capital’s 88,000 homeless children in the time it takes to travel a few stops on the Tube.

Shelter is calling on Londoners to swap their suits for sweatbands and join them in their fight against homelessness by signing up to Vertical Rush at Tower 42. From fearless fanatics to bold beginners, it’s a monstrously tall challenge suitable for all abilities. The equivalent of squatting and lunging at the same time, tower-running is a super-charged exercise that makes people stronger, faster, fitter and leaner.

‘Rushers’ can compete individually or in teams to take on the 42 flights of stairs in the fastest possible time.
