'Garden of Light’ springs up in London to celebrate Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal

Marie Curie, the terminal illness charity, is to unveil a “Garden of Light”, featuring 2,100 handmade daffodils on Wednesday 1st March, to celebrate the Great Daffodil Appeal 2017.

Located in Paternoster Square, the twelve-day installation will be unveiled to the public and feature a series of pathways, weaving in and out of the daffodils, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the installation and take a moment for personal reflection. Audio stories of people who have benefitted from Marie Curie’s services will also feature, creating a poignant tribute to the charity’s 2,100 nurses across the UK who provide care and support to people living with a terminal illness.

The daffodils ‘grow’ from a series of mesh-infused stands and will illuminate each evening, symbolising the care provided by Marie Curie nurse and the light they bring in the darkest hours.

Members of the public have until Sunday 12th March to visit the ‘Garden of Light’, where they can make a donation in return for a daffodil pin in support of the vital care and emotional support that Marie Curie nurses provide to people living with a terminal illness and their loved ones.

The Great Daffodil Appeal is Marie Curie’s biggest annual fundraising campaign, taking place throughout March and culminating in Daffodil Day on March 31st. For more information on how to donate, visit website or call 0800 304 7025.
