Do you feel awkward playing genders different from your own? Just want to make sure you're doing it well? Come along to this one day workshop and push your boundaries. We'll look at character traits from all over the gender spectrum, have a chance to try some characters what are off the beaten path (and possibly outside your comfort zone!), and try a bit of gentle cross-dressing (optional). Be vulnerable, be brave, try something new.

Email [email protected] with any questions. This class suitable for just about everybody, no matter your background. The venue is wheelchair accessible, and most levels of physical fitness and ability can easily be accommodated. You'll also need good basic English skills, but please don't be worried if it's your second language.

About your teacher:
Artistic director of Improvable Stephen Davidson has been improvising for 7 years and is a huge improv geek. He currently also directs QI: Queer Improv, and plays with The Verbs, house team of the Nursery theatre, in interdisciplinary group Zootropic, and in twoprovs The Eh Team with Kit Harmon and The Happiest People in the World with Erick Castellan. Stephen teaches improv through Improvable and The Nursery and loves to share the joy of it. He has studied improv through i/o Chicago, The Nursery, The Free Association, Upright Citizen's Brigade, Hoopla, The Maydays, Music Box, Showstoppers, Imprology, and with many visiting artists including Dave Razowsky, Bill Arnett, Tim Sozko, Heather Anne Campbell, Deanna Fleysher, and Lydia Hensler.

Stephen loves improv and one of the world's most cheerful people when playing or teaching. His day job is as a clarinettist, conductor, and music teacher, and he's always felt at home on stage. When coaching both music and improv he prides himself of creating a positive environment so that players can perform at their best. Stephen likes his improv like he likes his partners; silly, clever, and emotionally connected.
