The British Library and the Arts and Humanities Research Council are hosting the Academic Book of the Future Report Launch, on Tuesday 20th June, 6 – 8:30pm, at the British Medical Association, Tavistock Square, WC1H 9JP London.

Discussing the findings of the project's final report and a policy report by Dr Michael Jubb, the event will reflect on two years of research into the current and possible future states of academic books in the arts and humanities. Discussion will include:
• Is academic book production outstripping demand?
• Can library budgets keep pace with the ever-growing book production?
• Will academic books become a new frontier of Open Access?
• Are we ready to move away from the physical codex?
• Will digital book formats transform arts and humanities research?
• Are our discovery, access and preservation systems fit for the future?
The event will bring together the senior researchers involved with the project, as well as Professor Geoffrey Crossick, Dr Frances Pinter and the British Library’s Chief Librarian, Caroline Brazier, for a panel discussion on the issues raised in the report. The event will be introduced by Professor Andrew Thompson, CEO of the Arts and Humanities Research Council.
