‘From Memory Comes Place’ is an exhibition event by The Architects' Project, hosted by the Africa Centre, and part of the London Festival of Architecture 2017.

We are exploring how the memories we choose to hold of places we once belonged to (directly and/or through others) evolve over time, infiltrating into the places we are in now.

We are looking at how diverse ethnic and cultural heritage of London's residents contribute to the city’s sense of place, with a focus on selected subjects including design, architecture, food, the arts (...)

Our key interest is to draw out ways in which communities characterised by strong sense of cultural identity contribute to the city's sociocultural context and dynamic.

The exhibition will open with an evening of ‘tap:Exchange’, a platform for thinking and making, and will be followed by a panel discussion on ‘place-making from memory’, welcoming perspectives from others who wish to share their views and experiences on the topic.

There will be late-afternoon refreshments, music, networking and evening drinks as part of the event on Saturday 24th June 2017.

Timetable:
16:00 Doors open – Late afternoon refreshments
16:45 Welcome remarks by the Africa Centre
17:20 Exhibition Presentation by The Architects’ Project
18:00 Panel Discussion
19:30 Networking, music & drinks

The exhibition will stay open to the public from Monday 26th to Friday 30th June 2017 during the opening hours of the Africa Centre, 10am – 6pm.
