Palm Tree Gallery is delighted to present a collection of new work by British artist, Georgie Mason, for her solo exhibition ‘Memoryscapes’.

Based in Hackney Wick, Georgie exhibits with galleries across the UK and internationally. In 2016, her work was selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition whereupon it sold on the opening night. Other accolades include being selected as judge of Young Art East Anglia earlier this year, having work shortlisted for the National Open Art Prize and winning the Harry Walker Prize at the Bath Society of Artists. Her work, increasingly sought after, is bought by collectors both nationally and internationally.

Raised in the countryside of Suffolk, Georgie feels naturally inclined to paint open spaces and horizons. However, as she is not a representational artist, such spaces are often indistinct. ‘My paintings start off as somewhere specific but gradually become their own inspiration and the initial idea is overridden. I end up creating an imagined landscape from fragments of recent memories.’ (2017)

Having recently travelled to South America, Georgie’s new work reflects the colours and feelings of the countries she visited there. Pinks, blues and pastel hues amalgamate with sludgy greens and purples from older memories of Scotland to form a collection of invented, yet strangely recognisable ‘memoryscapes’. Palm Tree Gallery look forward to introducing an artist whose work is evocative, nostalgic and mysterious.
