Join us for an afternoon sharing the research and experiences of women specialising in military history topics.

Call for speakers

Female academics are underrepresented across the board, but particularly in military history topics. During our event, you’ll hear women speak about their research and experiences, with the chance to ask questions and network throughout.

The event is free to attend, open to the public, and will be available to book on our website in a couple of months’ time.

We’re going to run the event in a 5x15 format: 5 speakers with 15 minutes each, and then a discussion with the speakers and the audience. We’re planning two panels with a break in between and ten speakers in total. We’re open to a broad range of topics related to the military, including the Navy and Air Force.

Although this event will explore what it’s like to be a woman in military history, speakers are not obliged to speak on this. It is also a platform for female historians to share their research. Please submit a talk proposal of 300-500 words by Friday 28 July 2017 to [email protected].

We will offer a fee to all our speakers, and cover reasonable travel expenses.

Booking for this event will open once the programme of speakers has been confirmed.
