All In London Review
Craft beer and full english breakfasts at Victoria station...
As a pastiche The Beer House works well. The bar features the bare plaster walls and dangling Edison light bulbs you recognize from, duh, everywhere, and the beers on draught and by the bottle are of the American style pale ale variety. Great. While there is no doubting that this is still very much a station pub – it’s in a station after all – the Beer House deserves high marks for changing the habits of the waiting station dweller. Who wouldn’t rather sink a Sierra Nevada or a Brew Dog Punk IPA than a stinky Carling while waiting for the 19:02 to Denmark Hill? Don’t worry, you can still buy wine, spirits and the likes of dirty burgers, nachos and full English breakfasts so if anything, the Beer House is giving you the best of both worlds. Forget Upper Crust, come here and have a Goose Island and a bacon sandwich before you board your train, happy, satisfied and a little tipsy.
