This is the first solo exhibition of the work of British photographer Adrian Squirrell.

The title of the exhibition refers to Squirrell’s personal process as a photographer, which can often be a solitary practice involving an immersion in and deep connection with different landscapes in the United Kingdom and around the world. Squirrell writes of the process he goes through in finding and taking his photographs:

‘… even if you have pre-visualised a [photograph] you have to sit and open up your heart and mind to see the landscape with fresh eyes so that you don’t miss a shot. Through this process you feel deeply connected with nature; it can be a profoundly moving and uplifting experience. This overwhelming sense of awe at the beauty and wonder of the planet we live on makes you want to share this experience with others’

This exhibition invites you to share in Squirrell’s personal journey and connection with nature. Whether it be through the awe inspiring vastness of his astronomy images, the intimate black and white moments captured living remotely in the mountains, the breadth and scale of his panorama’s or the unique perspective of his drone photography, Squirrell’s work offers the viewer excitingly different views of the natural world.

Biography
Adrian Squirrell is a London based photographer who’s work takes him all round Europe.

As a young child he enjoyed and was good at art, particularly painting but was guided towards the sciences in secondary school. He rekindled his love of creative activity in his late teens, “…when I picked up a camera and started printing my own B&W shots it felt like I was able to express that side of me again.”

Largely self taught, his photographs reflect the sense of freedom, quiet and happiness he enjoyed growing up in the countryside, roaming the fields and woods on his own. Whilst primarily a Landscape photographer he is also an accomplished astrophotographer and drone photographer.

He worked for several years in the film industry as an assistant editor and still shoots and edits short films which can be seen on vimeo.
