Londinium (chamber choir) | Andrew Griffiths (conductor)
This celebratory concert marks the launch of Londinium's debut recording 'The Gluepot Connection' - a mouthwatering selection of British choral music by composers who frequented 'The George' pub in Great Portland Street in the first half of the twentieth century, released on the SOMM label. The programme includes highlights from the disc, including Arnold Bax's stupendous 'Mater ora filium' and works by Alan Bush, John Ireland, Elisabeth Lutyens, EJ Moeran, Alan Rawsthorne and Peter Warlock. Alongside this glorious repertoire Londinium performs an underrated masterpiece: Kenneth Leighton's 'Mass for Double Choir', op.44. Copies of the disc, which includes several première recordings, will be available to purchase.
