8:00pm MATT CHANDLER London based guitarist Matt Chandler is not only known for his jazz playing, but also genres including folk and electronica. Having worked with artists including Youth, Arno Carstens and Ozark Henry on his European tour, Matt also leads the electro-funk band Pest. He has been the winner of the Blue Noize blues guitar competition and was awarded “Future Guitar Legend” sponsored by Eastman in Los Angeles, 2013. Last year saw the release of his third album ‘Astrometrics’ which was deemed ‘Texturally adventurous’ by Jazzwise Magazine and ‘seemlessly sophisticated’ by All About Jazz. A fluent and inventive jazz guitarist in the classic Wes Montgomery tradition Matt explains that he ‘wanted to do an album that was in keeping with the organ trio tradition but with a newer take on it and with material that was not composition heavy, where the music and the players just "get down to it’. This evening Matt will be accompanied by Liam Dunachie – Hammond organ and Eric Ford – Drums. "Chandler incorporates blues and jazz with maybe a hint of funky soul into his playing. He moves around the genres without losing identity. It's music for today, yesterday and tomorrow.” Bebop Spoken Here; "There’s no denying the taste, skill and talent of everyone involved and both Chandler’s compositions and his effortlessly swinging solos have an infectious energy." Jazz Views; “… Texturally adventurous, strong funky vibe… Chandler has a nice way with melody.” Jazzwise Magazine; "Riveting music that flows with seamless sophistication.” All About Jazz
