Italian-born jazz vocalist Marta Capponi began her jazz studies in Rome at the prestigious Saint Louis College of Music. Although a student she was already a busy working musician, and it wasn't long before her precocious talent was being heard alongside a wide array of established Italian and US jazz artists. By the time she left college she was already well known on the Italian jazz scene and she could soon be heard at high-profile venues and festivals around Italy, including the likes of Umbria Jazz, Umbria Jazz Winter, Ravello Jazz Festival, Spoleto Festival die Due Mondi, Casa del Jazz, Villa Celimontana and Auditorium Parco della Musica. Looking for musical challenges further afield, in 2012 Marta moved to London, bringing with her an eclectic and remarkable repertoire, from classic jazz standards and pop to folk and Brazilian music. She was soon immersed in the London scene as both a performer and teacher, working with the likes of Philip Achille (Lionel Richie), Femi Temowo & Robin Banerjee (Amy Winehouse), Ernesto Simpson (Richard Bona), Luca Boscagin (John Abercrombie), Adriano Adewale (Sarah Jane Morris), Antonio Forcione and Marcelo Andrade, who called Marta to be part of his project "African Tree", a band featured regularly here at the Club. Her singing is fluent, powerful and captivating, and she has a stage presence to match - I am so impressed with her that I have asked her to sing with my band Samara on several occasions. Accompanying Marta this evening is the equally impressive internationally acclaimed pianist Andrew McCormack (Kyle Eastwood, Jamie Cullum) and his trio. Highly recommended.

"Capponi...knocked out the crowd...easy to see why she is making waves" LondonJazz News; "Marta Capponi, a sparkle with a beautiful voice...a joy" Antonio Forcione
