A new pop-up bar ‘El Cartel’, promising fun-fuelled cocktails and an experience inspired by the world famous Colombian drug lord, is opening at Putney’s Bar Canek on 22 April.

Modelled on what would be considered a drugs den, ‘El Cartel’ promises an experimental and exciting space, and evening of ‘cooking cocktails’ with a team of professional mixologists.

Running for two months, this brand new concept is pushing the boundaries of cocktail making, with customers invited to make their own dangerously tasty cocktails, using laboratory equipment to create dry ice, bubbles and whipped cream.

But, not before having to don a S.W.A.T bulletproof vest and given strict instructions by the cocktail 'drug' lord himself - Hector Herdandez, the mastermind behind ‘El Cartel.’

Hector is an expert mixologist and the owner of Bar Canek, the venue hosting the pop-up. Hector wants to combine the public’s current intrigue into the Columbian cartel with innovative cocktails to create a truly unique experience.

Hernandez says: “I wanted to create something that was intriguing, fun and and educational, with customers learning how to make great cocktails, but also understanding how they're made.”

Guests can choose from a selection of themed tipples, including a drink that involves a bowl of rice crispies.

Tickets costs £25, and (willing) participants can enjoy one welcome drink, two cocktails and some special extras. The experience lasts two and half hours.

That is, unless you don’t make it out...
