Polynesian Dance

Discover the different dances of the Pacific at this fun-filled family workshop

Explore some of the cultures from some of the pacific countries that Captain James Cook visited 250 years ago. Families will have a chance to make their own garland and learn and perform their own Polynesian dance run by dance company Beats of Polynesia.

It is 250 years since the Endeavour set sail from Plymouth. Our James Cook: the Voyages exhibition tells the story of Captain James Cook’s three world-changing voyages through original documents, many of which were produced by the artists, scientists and sailors on board the ships.

Beats of Polynesia were founded in 2005 to celebrate and share the unique vibrancy and the richness of the Pacific Island cultures.
