A DJ set by Jazzie B of Soul II Soul, a carnival-style parade and an open-air theatre spectacular paying tribute to Britain’s veterans as part of Greenwich + Docklands International Festival (GDIF) are just a few of the highlights of this year’s Royal Greenwich Get Together on Saturday 30 June 2018 in Woolwich.

Previously known as The Great Get Together and Armed Forces Day the Council’s free festival for all ages is moving to the heart of Woolwich and will be taking place across two sites: General Gordon Square and Number One Street on the Royal Arsenal.

The bursting line-up features live music, theatre, circus, Armed Forces Area, arts and crafts, sports zone and skate ramp, workshops, food and drink and much more.

An eclectic mix of bands, DJs and musicians will be performing everything from funk and soul, to latin and calypso with some pop and jazz in between. Local school children and community groups will be part of the carnival-style parade that also features a Brazilian drumming band, float and giant puppets. It kicks-off at the Woolwich Centre and ends with a big finale on the riverfront in the Royal Arsenal.

There is fun for all members of the family: a roller disco, ‘A Touch of Little Mix’ sound-a-like pop group and children’s theatre shows. Kids can also learn circus skills, skate boarding, computer coding, DJing and how to record their own musical tracks in one of many interactive workshops.

In the Royal Arsenal there will be a wealth of demonstrations, stands and performances by the Armed Forces including a Harrier flight simulator, military vehicles, Army and Navy Cadets, and a veterans’ presentation made by the Mayor.

General Gordon Square and Royal Arsenal are easily accessible by public transport from the nearest train/DLR station to Woolwich Arsenal. Buses 51, 53, 54, 69, 96, 99, 122, 161, 177, 178, 180, 244, 291, 380, 386, 422, 469, 472 and 658 all stop nearby.
