Joanna Bird shows a selection of high quality handmade artefacts from international sources in her gallery in Chiswick, West London.

Central to the show is a focus on the celestial qualities of the exhibited pieces by contemporary artists working in ceramics, glass and lacquered furniture.

The clean architectural lines of Carina Ciscato’s constructed porcelain vessels contrast with the illustrative quality of Helen Beard’s elegant bowls depicting bustling French market places and bathers at Hampstead Way. For her part, National Living Treasure and luminary, Pippin Drysdale, shows vibrant porcelain and ethereal lustre vessels which complement chic lacquered furniture designed by Neil and Annabel McCarthy, the masterminds behind Nest Design.

Continuing the theme of decorative forms as heavenly bodies, visitors will further discover the textured glass vessels from Edmond Byrne, their patina reminiscent of Ancient Roman glass. Fine glasses by Nason Moretti are curated beside Yo Thom’s striking Ai-Indigo-glazed domestic ware and Dylan Bowen’s brutalist ceramics.

The exhibition also includes delicate sculptural work by Sara Dodd, lustre pieces by Joanna Constantinidis and striking monumental forms by James Oughtibridge. Beautiful domestic ware by Takeshi Yasuda and Sun Kim add to the virtuoso ensemble, completed by the exciting new concepts from Alice Walton and Ian Thompson, recent graduates from the Royal College of Art.

We hope you will come to explore the elysian treasures presented in this splendid Christmas show.
