The Science Museum is delighted to announce a series of IMAX 15/70mm screenings of Stanley Kubrick’s science fiction masterpiece “2001: A Space Odyssey,” to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Kubrick’s groundbreaking 1968 epic. This is the first time that the 70mm IMAX print of the landmark motion picture is being screened in the UK.

Widely considered among the greatest films of the 20th century, “2001: A Space Odyssey” was released in 70mm Cinerama roadshow format on April 4, 1968. The film was directed and produced by Kubrick from a screenplay he co-wrote with legendary science fiction author Arthur C. Clarke, and stars Keir Dullea and Gary Lockwood.

In keeping with the original 1968 release, all IMAX screenings will feature a brief interval. Visitors are also welcome and indeed encouraged to come to any screening in 1960s dress.
