Join award-winning photography duo Amit and Naroop as they discuss the story of the turban with the launch of their new book, 'Turbans and Tales'.

The turban is worn by all three major faiths of the Indian subcontinent and has been a symbol of status and respect in the region for centuries. The British Army in India played a significant role in utilising the turban in military uniforms and ultimately informing styles currently worn today. British royalty and officers also donned the turban themselves over the years.

The colour, shape and style can tell us a lot about the wearer. They vary from the blue towering turbans of the Akali Nihung warriors, ornate layers worn by maharajas, folded khaki turbans worn during both World Wars to more modern iterations.

Amit and Naroop focus in on the Sikh turban and track its evolution. The book features contemporary portraits of British and American Sikhs from the duo's recent exhibition, in addition to archival photographs that chart the history of the turban.

There will be a book signing with the authors after the event. Refreshments will be provided.
