Dogs were used by all of the major combatants in the First World War. Find out how the British, as well as their foreign counterparts, recruited, trained and deployed their dogs.

Emma Worrall is the author of 'A History of Britain in 100 dogs' and is currently studying for her PhD in the military use of dogs in the First World War at the University of Chichester.
