Ceramics 274 are holding a Sample Sale. This is a rare opportunity to scoop up a bargain, see some experimental work, rummage through seconds, and pick up one-offs and limited pieces from the artist’s recent collections. Prices will start from just £7.

The sale will take place on April 13th and 14th, in the beautiful surroundings of the Dalston Curve Garden. This community run space is a hidden oasis just off Dalston Junction, with a lovely cafe serving drinks and snacks, and Ceramics 274 are donating 10% of all proceeds from the sale to the garden.

From modern to traditional, wheel-thrown and hand-built pieces, the collections on offer cover a wide range of styles. Buyers can pick up work from their favourite maker, or mix and match pieces to create unique, contemporary collections.

The pieces for sale will be predominantly functional - plates, bowls, mugs and cups, kitchenware, vases, plant pots and more.

The international makers involved all live and work in London, and formed Ceramics 274 after meeting at shared studio spaces. Some are traditionally trained; Grace McCarthy is a Camberwell College of Arts graduate. Others come to ceramics via other mediums; Natascha Madeiski is an architect and designer who experiments with innovative techniques.

The makers have unique and contrasting styles - thrown tableware from Andrea Roman; porcelain vases from Ben Sutton; characterful neutrals from Ned Davies. The lines between function and art are blurred by much of the work: textured egg-like forms from Lisa Ommanney; Arjan van Dal’s richly hued dyed porcelain work; elegant marbled vases from Ida Riveros.
