A full day skills camp for children aged 7-12 exploring creative invention using micro:bit, a tiny programmable computer, designed to make learning easy and fun!

Working in small teams, children will learn how to use BBC Micro:bit, a tiny programmable computer which can be used to create everything from robots to musical instruments. They’ll design, build and programme their own moving and interactive robot animal for our robot zoo.

Once they’ve got to grips with coding their Micro:bit, children will invent and design a robot animal using motors, lights and sensors, arts and crafts.

Children will learn coding and invention skills using the Make Code interface and they’ll get to stretch their creative thinking using arts and crafts to personalise and make their robot animals.

The workshop is for all abilities and allows children with previous experience of Micro:bit to work on more complicated projects.

This camp is taking place on Tuesday 28 May, from 10:00am until 4:00pm. This is a drop-off event, children do not need to be accompanied by a parent or carer during the workshop. There will be a show and tell which parents and carers are invited to attend at 3:30pm. The day will finish at 4:00pm.

Ideal for children aged 7-12 years. The camp costs £65 for the full day of activities. Please note, projects cannot be taken home at the end of the day as the micro:bit computers must remain in the Imagination Lab.

Lunch is not provided, children should bring a packed lunch to the Lab.
