In this exhibition artist Helen Simpson is showing her work with fellow Dorset textile artist Imogen Bittner, and Suffolk artist Kay Waterfield with whom she studied at the Royal Academy Schools.

Helen Simpson's highly observed, larger than life pastel and oil paintings show us that the flower’s stillness is simply a momentary suspension of movement in a mysterious and unceasing journey from one form, one landscape, to another.

Imogen Bittner’s still life work is a transformation of the representational towards the abstract into frenzied textural arrangements that focus on colour and pattern. As an avid collector, objects have often informed both her painting and textile works. These vibrant, textile images also reflect her interest in reconstructing ancient ceramics.

In her intimate paintings recording her home life in her Suffolk village, Kay Waterfield not only revels in the colour and texture of the familiar, but enjoys incidental chance and occurrence, whether the sudden appearance of a chicken on the window sill, or a neighbour watering her plants.

These three very different artists challenge any notions of the static through their pictures of plants that refuse to rest, still objects that sizzle with new life, and paintings that celebrate the ever-changing nature of the spaces we inhabit.
