All In London Review
And now: Q Aperitivo, a weekly night of Italian-inspired cocktails...
Descending into the buzzing depths of the bar with a view of the restaurant below, it’s got a great vibe from the moment you walk in. With the dulcet tones of the evening’s music filling the room, close your eyes and you can almost imagine you’re on the canalised in Venice. Almost.
The Italian-inspire cocktail menu has a great selection of tipples for different tastebuds. We started with a Ponte Vecchio, a blend os sultana and rosemary-infused Tanqueray 10, Martini Ambrato, Campari, Barolo Chianto and Galliano Balsamico. I’m not going to lie - it was pretty potent, akin to a Negroni and certainly packed a punch.
The menu includes a selection of bar food in keeping with the theme. The burrata surf & turf, each served on a cos leaf, came in two parts. One half was graced with the surf - a raw Sicilian red prawn with fresh chilli and oscietra caviar - and the other with turf - spicy Calabrian N’duja, tomato and basil. Both were equally delicious, though demolished in two mouthfuls and it was swiftly followed by a smoked beef carpaccio with rocket pesto, parmesan and truffle, served on crunchy bread. Both a delicious pre-dinner nibble, I wouldn’t have said no to a larger portion.
Finishing out fleeting visit with a second cocktail before dinner, we settled on the slightly less boozy La Gondola, a blend of Maraschino, lime, kiwi and prosecco - an altogether more refreshing finish to what was a delicious evening. Next time we’ll be lured down to the restaurant to finish where we left off.
