Album launch with special guests at Kings Place, 5th September
‘… not just an excellent songwriter but someone with a fine grasp of the delicate balance of joy and pain that makes us human’ Folk Radio UK

This will be a totally unique performance of ‘Dispatches on the Red Dress’, complete with guest musicians from ‘The Lines We Draw Together’ including Michele Stoddart (The Magic Numbers) and Jack McNeill (Propellor) and previously unheard music.

Rowan Rheingans’ much-anticipated debut solo release The Lines We Draw Together is a heartfelt yet unflinching musical essay on memory, history, fascism, waltzes, folk-song, bird-song, trauma, family & war. Inspired by her own grandmother’s youth in 1940’s Ger-many, The Lines We Draw Together is a meditation on ancestry; a pertinent anti-war statement and an urgent questioning of our collective handling of ‘dark histories’. This makes it an historic provocation for our current political climate while also a triumphant celebration of human empathy, resilience and hope.

A companion to Rowan’s acclaimed one-woman show Dispatches on The Red Dress, her debut solo album features cathartic collaborations with indy, jazz, classical and elec-tronic musicians, including bassist Michele Stoddart (The Magic Numbers) and clarinet-tist Jack McNeill (Propellor).
For this special concert, Rowan will perform her new album in full, featuring guest musi-cians from the record. The intimacy of a folk gig meets the ancient traditions of storytelling and the emotional soundscapes of genre-melding music in this unique performance.

Rowan Rheingans is a fiddle player, banjoist and songwriter widely regarded as one of the foremost composers and innovators in folk music today. Best known for her work with acclaimed folk bands Lady Maisery, The Rheingans Sisters and Songs of Separation, Rowan has won two BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards (‘Best Original Track’ & ‘Best Album’) and is a five-time nominee.
