T.R. Todd, internationally acclaimed author of multi award winning novel Pigs of Paradise, The Story of the World Famous Swimming Pigs, will be signing copies of his global best seller at the Stanfords store; 7 Mercer Walk, Covent Garden, on 12th September at 7pm.

At the exclusive event - and ahead of the official release - visitors will also be able to enjoy the UK premiere of the film Pigs of Paradise, based on Todd’s celebrated novel about the swimming pigs, directed by multi award winning filmmaker Charlie Smith.

The book and film tell the intriguing story of the swimming pigs that populate the island of Exuma in the middle of the Bahamas, with billionaires and celebrities for neighbours. For decades, this archipelago of 365 islands would remain largely unknown to the world.

Now the swimming pigs have become celebrities themselves - appearing in magazines, videos, newspapers, TV shows, and countless selfies - the Swimming Pigs of Exuma, have become a bucket-list sensation and have been named one of the marvels of the universe.

But how did they reach this celebrity status? What made them so famous? And why, in February 2017, did so many of them die?

Pigs of Paradise is an unlikely story of humble beginnings and a swift rise to stardom. With interviews from historians, world-renowned ecologists, famous pig owners, and boat captains, it thoughtfully considers what this phenomenon says about not only these animals but also about us.
