London Design Festival at Oxo Tower Wharf

Take the Plunge with an immersive journey inspired by the sea at Bargehouse, explore the secrets of paper artisans from Tokyo at wagumi, and get the chance to buy some exclusive products during London Festival of Design.

For London Design Festival (LDF), Oxo Tower Wharf presents a bold and stimulating programme of events, exhibitions, installations, product launches and discounts as part of the Bankside Design District.

At Bargehouse, Volume Creative, in collaboration with Virgin Voyages, invites you to Take the Plunge in a playful multi-sensory installation inspired by a love of the sea, designed to evoke curiosity. A minimalist exterior juxtaposes with the warmth within. Step into an endless horizon on the pathway of discovery, before plunging into an extraordinary second space that depicts a sunset under the sea. This exhibition carries a spirit of adventure and celebrates the endless possibilities of great design.

At gallery@oxo UCA Farnham presents Connected – The Makers’ Art – an exhibition of selected works from MA graduates from University of the Creative Arts. This exhibition provides a dynamic environment for those transitioning from student to practitioner, showcasing their multi-disciplinary practices: textiles, ceramics, jewellery, metalwork and product design. There is a real focus on pushing boundaries within the field of craft and design through graduates’ use of materials and processes throughout the exhibition.

In the courtyard is Assembling Reciprocity: an innovative outdoor installation by two students at the Bartlett School of Architecture UCL: Fabrizio Tozzoli and Alfredo Ferrer. The installation utilises a self-supporting reciprocal timber design, made using advanced digital and manufacturing tools.

Alongside the programme of free exhibitions, the design shops at Oxo Tower present a series of workshops, talks and product launches. Oxo Tower Wharf is home to a community of over 20 independent designer-makers across the ground, first and second floors, specialising in interiors, lighting, gifts, homeware, jewellery and fashion. Events include 'Brilliant Corners and Folds' a presentation of techniques from the Inkaren paper artists of Tokyo at Japaense design shop Wagumi.
Lighting studio Innermost launch their new portable lamp with a giveaway and huge discounts and design-led toy brand Noodoll launch an adorable water bottle in collaboration with 24Bottles.
