Join hundreds of Londoners at Sleep Walk for Shelter and help fight homelessness on a 10km night-time fundraising walk across central London. Don hats and scarves and come together to brave the winter cold and raise money for the UK’s leading housing and homelessness charity, Shelter, to help support homeless families this Christmas.
Now in its second year, Sleep Walk for Shelter provides a fun alternative Christmas night out for friends and families. This year, those unable to make the walks in London and Manchester have the opportunity to organise a Sleep Walk event of their own in their local area.
Starting near Waterloo Station, the festive night time stroll will see walkers soak up the sights of London, including Big Ben, Covent Garden, St Paul’s Cathedral, The Tower of London and the Southbank. The walk will end in the historic graffiti tunnels at 26 Leake Street where participants will be treated to post walk entertainment and festive refreshments.
The UK is currently in a national housing emergency, with thousands of people sleeping rough every night. Currently 1 in 53 Londoners are homeless and 135 families became homeless in England every day last year according to new figures. Shelter is calling on the public to make a stand and take steps to fight homelessness.
